Do you understand the value of horizontal space?  Perhaps if you have a workshop….  I imagine if you run a kitchen, or maybe you are a potter; you know exactly what I am talking about.  When people ask me about what they need in a workshop (I am a woodworker) my first response is that you can never have enough horizontal space. There is an adage that says “nature abhors a void” This adage becomes absolutely literal when you have a shop. If there is a void of horizontal space, on a shelf, or on a table, or on a box in a corner, nature wants to fill it immediately.  The whole of nature.  The very forces of elemental nature that compile the intricate reasons of existence.  The forces of nature that are bent into the stuff of religion, and tragedy, and nauseating philosophical preponderance…, the very stuff of being:  boiled down to a simple purpose.  The purpose of absolute refusal to allow a single square inch of horizontal surface to be left un-cluttered.
